Workflow
Defining a specific workflow for creating a corporate design would just be wrong. The process of creating a CD is different each time and different aspects are important each time. But one part of the process that should always be there to prepare for creating a corporate design is the briefing.
Briefing
A briefing is the first step to a new corporate design and also one of the most important ones. This is where the head of the company meets with the designer or agency which is going to create its corporate design. But in fact, the briefing starts before they even meet because if a company wants a corporate design it has to know some things about itself:
- What is the target group?
- What does the company do?
- What does the company want?
- What does the company stand for? What are its values?
- How is the company positioned in the market?
- Who are the competitors?
- What is the unique selling point (USP) of the company?
If these questions are answered properly and honestly a designer can base their work on them and make a useful and relevant corporate design.
